Three Smiles is built to know as little about you as possible. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking.
Who we are
Three Smiles is made by Addoli Ltd, company number 16821667. Addoli Ltd is the data controller for the small amount of information described here. Contact us at [email protected].
What stays on your phone
- Your location. If you allow it, the app checks your approximate location to show the phrases for where you are. This is worked out on your phone and is never sent to us.
- Your passport, trips, wishlist and settings. These are stored on your phone only. We cannot see them, and they are deleted if you delete the app or tap Clear my progress.
- Trip reminders. Reminders are scheduled by your phone. Nothing is sent from us.
What you choose to send us
- Phrase suggestions and destination requests. We receive what you type, the phrase or place it relates to, and, if you add them, your first name and town. We use this to check and improve the phrases and to credit you if your suggestion is used and you agreed to that. We keep suggestions while they are useful for improving the app.
- Voice recordings. If you volunteer to record words for the app, you send them to us by email. We use them only in Three Smiles and its materials, credited by first name if you agree, and we delete them if you ask.
- “Got a smile” taps. When you tick this, we add one to an anonymous count for that phrase. Nothing that identifies you is sent.
Technical information
Suggestions and counts are handled by our service on Cloudflare. To stop misuse, we keep a scrambled, one-hour record of how many submissions come from the same internet address. It is deleted automatically after an hour. Cloudflare may process internet addresses to deliver and protect the service.
Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details. Apple and Google tell us only that a purchase is valid.
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or share your information. We use Cloudflare to run our service and to forward emails to us. Payments are handled by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies.
Children
Three Smiles is suitable for everyone and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. We ask anyone under 13 not to include a name in suggestions.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you, such as a suggestion you sent with your name. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If we ever add something new, such as optional news notifications, it will be off unless you turn it on.
