Where it started

It started with a thank you in Turkey

I tried the big language apps and got nowhere. So I started a smaller habit: learn hello, thank you and cheers wherever I go.

In Turkey, a thank you made a waiter ask if I was Turkish. In France, “Santé” got my round on the house. In Bali, a greeting got me the best view in the restaurant.

For years I kept these phrases as screenshots in my holiday photos. Three Smiles is the app I wanted instead.
